Description
Legislative advocacy is the process of influencing legislators or other public
officials to enact, amend, or repeal legislation. This influence can be exercised
by individuals, organizations, or coalitions with a vested interest in particular
policies or laws. Advocacy takes many forms, from direct lobbying—where
advocates meet with lawmakers and their staff—to indirect methods such as
grassroots campaigns, public relations or media relations efforts, or coalitionbuilding strategies.
